So! I decided to try something new. I got this blog. I’ve always loved writing, but I just never knew what to do or how to do it. (( SO please bear with me as I figure it all out! )) To start, I will introduce myself . My name is Maria. I am a newly graduated nurse working in Rochester, MN. I won’t name the hospital I work at, but if you have a little knowledge in the medical world, I’m sure you could probably guess which wonderful facility I work for. 😉 I am fortunate enough to also be part of a few amazing companies.
I’m from the beautiful state of Wyoming. Wyoming is, like I said, very beautiful but very sparsely populated! So, to get out of my comfort zone and to discover more opportunities for myself, I took myself to Iowa for nursing school. After a long and very difficult three years of nursing school, I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and graduated this last May (ya, that means I’m super-duper new). My junior year of nursing school, I landed a very competitive nursing externship that changed my life and opened up so many opportunities. This externship led me to accept the position I am in today as a registered nurse on the Trauma/General Surgery floor at the beautiful hospital located in Minnesota. 🙂
I would love to continue my nursing career in Emergency Medicine/Trauma, and eventually work in the Emergency Department. The hospital I work at doesn’t hire new grad nurses, which is TOTALLY fine with me! I want to get more experience working on the floor and more experience with trauma before attempting to handle emergency situations. My goal is to return to school someday soon and further my journey in nursing to become a nurse practitioner. I’m not 100% decided, but so far my specialty of interest as a practitioner would be in Emergency Med.
As I start to post more and the more you read, you’ll learn all sorts of fun things about my life, my job, and my passions in life. I sincerely hope you find what I write about to be interesting, but if you ever have any topics of interest, questions, or comments, I’d absolutely love to hear it! All feedback is appreciated, but I’d also like to let you know, I am human and if I ever post something that offends you or that you don’t like, please be respectful and know that this is just my opinion and I never intend to offend anyone. Thanks for taking time to read my first post, and I hope you venture back ❤
